How to set up SPF and DMARC for your email delivery

Since February 2024, email providers such as Microsoft (Outlook), Google (Gmail), and Yahoo have implemented new regulations to combat spam. This means that additional authentication methods like DKIM, SPF, and DMARC must be implemented for email sending domains to be recognized as legitimate senders and not as spam. It's crucial to set this up correctly; otherwise, your marketing emails may not reach your recipients.

The importance of SPF and DMARC in email delivery

SPF (Sender Policy Framework) and DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance) are essential methods to ensure the authenticity of email senders and combat spam. By configuring these settings correctly, the likelihood of your emails being marked as spam is reduced, allowing them to effectively reach your leads or customers.

Setting up SPF and DMARC in HubSpot

In HubSpot, you can set up SPF and DMARC by navigating to Settings > Tools > Website. Under 'Domain & URLs', you'll find the section for email delivery. Ensure all fields are filled correctly and that the status is green to ensure your emails are securely sent.

How to fix it if SPF and DMARC are not set up correctly

If SPF and DMARC are not set up correctly, you can resolve this by clicking on 'continue domain setup' in HubSpot. Then, you need to provide the necessary information to your email domain administrator for configuration. After that you'll have to check if the status is green to ensure that your emails are delivered correctly.

Unsubscribe with one click

Google and Yahoo also offers the option to unsubscribe with one click starting from February 2024. HubSpot has already implemented this change in the email templates, enabling recipients to unsubscribe easily. Be aware of a potential increase in unsubscribe rates due to this update.
